Aquaculture Projects Outline

Zooplankton

Our R&D company has developed a process that produces an aquatic protein from zooplankton for use in commercial animal diets.

A process which completely replaces the need for fish meal without using plant matter.

Fish meal is currently the essential protein component of all chicken and fish aquaculture diets world wide.(Fish Meal harvested between November and December 2007 was 2 million metric tonnes at $900US/metric tonne).

Our research on zooplankton has taken several years to consistently achieve these highly positive results.

Coral Trout Farming Example

Our aquaculture example documents the process of developing a commercial recirculating aquaculture and aquafarming operation. The example outlines the importance for vertical integration of broodstock, hatchery, nursery and growout.

The following outline describes a recirculating aquaculture design proposed to achieve the aquaculture goals of Mr Joe Da-Fisho. He has identified the concept of land based farming of valuable reef species, such as the coral trout for sale into the highly lucrative Asian export market.

The proposed coral trout aquaculture development has been carefully researched and designed to achieve commercial culture these reef fish species using recirculating aquaculture technology and systems. The main targeted species is the local coral trout, Violet Coral Trout (Plectropomus pessuliferus).

The example aquaculture design focuses on achieving approximately 100 tonnes of export production per year with a 4 phase construction and development plan spanning 18 - 24 months.

Fish Hatchery Design Example

This article's fish hatchery design criteria is based on a hypothetical off shore intensive cage farm which utilises batch culture. The growout requirements are such that the hatchery spawning runs need to be continuous to constantly supply the culture requirements of the growout farm.

The growout farm requires 120,000 fingerlings every month. The fish hatchery site is 400 meters from the growout farm in a sheltered bay and within 15 kilometers of a major city. However there is no development endangering the water supply. The fish hatchery design is a high turnover, high intensity grossing several million dollars per annum and that intensity and return is reflected in the intensity of the fish hatchery design costing.

Fish Farm Construction should only occur once a commercial fish farming strategy has been achieved. Such a strategy must contain a reative business plan based on actual achievable results. Each site has specific requirements that need to be known before construction commences. Unless you have such information your project will not result in commercial success. Do not proceed.

Our fish farming systems are incorporated with the most sophisticated vertical integration in the most simplistic manor. This factor has enabled a potential profit return approaching 37% within the second year of operation.

We have based our fish farming designs on 50 tonne production modules. At $10 per kg that is $50,000 with two staff and auto control with Aquasense Remote Monitoring. At $60/kg the same amount of effort returns $300,000 per crop per tank with 2 crops per year.
