Goldfish as an industry, is probably the largest aquafarmer and certainly the oldest fish aquafarmer industry this country has known.
Goldfish aquafarming is definitely the most underestimated aquafarmer industry.
Goldfish aquafarming, for me, was aquafarming for fascination. If you enjoy goldfish it is hard to call it a business. The other fascination, was in the recurring sales. The continuous demand for colourful goldfish is difficult to imagine.
For a quick example.. A good size female goldfish spawns about 5000 eggs. And they can spawn about 3 or 4 times per season. So if I have 10 females the total egg count equates to 200,000 hatched larvae. If 50 % survive and are all sold for $1 then that would certainly be making a profit.

Goldfish Farm Construction should only
occur once a commercial fish farming strategy has been achieved. Such
a strategy must contain a reative business plan based on actual achievable
results. Each site has specific requirements that need to be known
before construction commences. Unless you have such information your
project will not result in commercial success. Do not proceed.
Site selection will always be a compromise.
There is no perfect site nor is there an absolutely worthless piece
of land. The preferred site will always represent a positive trade
off between the biological requirements, economic considerations,
physical parameters and government and environmental regulations.
